A place for the things you treasure.
Coming soon for Windows and macOS.
I built Drisiúr for my own books, records, comics and games. It puts them on shelves, each at its real size, the way they’d be at home, and not in a grid of little squares.
I’ll send the odd note on how it’s going, and one when it’s ready. You’ll get a link to confirm first, and you can unsubscribe whenever you like. Privacy
From my own collection
Every kind of shelf
-
The record shopRecords in crates, filed A to Z. Scroll over a crate to flick through it, and click the front one to pull it out.
-
TsundokuThe books I mean to read, in a pile. Click a spine to mark it read and the pile goes down. Mine is taller than a telegraph pole.
-
Comics, face outThe lamp and the ladder are curiosities. You earn those as the collection grows.
-
The backlogGames in their cases, each at the size of the real box.
-
In rotationWhat I’m listening to at the moment. LPs and CDs share a shelf, each at its own size.
-
CuriositiesLittle objects you earn along the way, like a cactus at ten items and a globe at twenty-five. They can go on any shelf.

The details open beside the shelf: the edition, the cover, where it fits in a series, if you’ve read it, and who you lent it to. You can also nudge how it stands on the shelf.
The name
drisiúr
Irish. Said “drish-oor”.
A dresser: the piece of furniture that keeps the good things on show.
In an Irish kitchen, it’s where the good plates go on show.
The short version
- ShelvesBooks, records, CDs, cassettes, films and games, each drawn at its real size.
- FinishesEach category can have its own finish and its own shelf lights.
- YoursYour library is one file on your own computer. There’s no account and no cloud. The only thing it sends out is a lookup when you ask for one.
Follow along
I’ll write when there’s something worth showing, and once when it’s ready for Windows and macOS.
